I decided to start looking for a new (if possible), dark wood frame at the various thrift stores I visit. I wanted to make a simple dry wipe board to use as a, groceries needed note pad. Yesterday I found a new document frame for 99 cents. Document frames are perfect, they hold a sheet of 8.5X11 paper. I was now in business.
I used a standard piece of printer paper, decided I wanted to hang the frame landscape style, then printed:
to market to market, to buy a fat pig home again home again, jiggity jig
Of course you can use any phrase of your choice, or leave plain. I thought this might be fun with the grandchildren.
Take the frame apart, and clean the inside glass. Add the printed sheet, replaced any filler cardboard and the cardboard backing. Now I was ready to attache the hanging bracket, and not looking forward to working with those tiny nails!
I did have a difficult time with the tiny brads provided, and then got smart. I finally had success with starting the nail hole with a long thin brad, then removing that and gently pushing / pounding in the tiny ones.
Hang it up, any dry wipe pen will work. You simply write on the glass. The glass is easy to wipe clean. I think it is safe to say this grocer list will not get lost! This basic idea is very adaptable to your own families needs, have fun with it, you will be amazed what you can come up with.
Here are a couple more ideas,
A communication board, this one has an easel back to stand up. This will help catch the attention of who needs to read the message.
A small goals list maker. This is nice for the desk, and as goals change or are completed, it is easy to change the board.
A menu planner, dry wipe board.
As always thanks so much for stopping by!

So you are writing on the glass? Sounds like a magnificent idea.
Hi LeAnn, yes you write on the glass and wipe it clean just like a dry wipe board. Sorry I did not make that as clear as I should have in the post, and went back to fix it! Thanks for stopping by.
I have one of these too! We keep losing the pen though!
Very clever!
What an awesome idea! :)
love the looks of that!
but what do you do when it is time to go to the store? do you rewrite the list on paper?
Hi Angie, yes the list will have to be transferred to a scrap of paper. In our house, I do the cooking and my Honey usually does the marketing. Since we also work different shifts, some times I do not have the opportunity to see him, BEFORE he goes to the store. This larger list is great to add a little detail if needed for a special ingredient, or store location.
Great idea! I list my grocery items and other household stuffs in my little "grocery book" since I'm the only one who knows when something needs to be replenished!
I love this idea! I do all of the shopping, but with teenagers I definitely do not do all the eating. I really need them to let me know when we are out of "their foods". : )
Great idea.
Thats an awesome idea, my only prob is that I often go shopping after work and don't have time to run home to copy the list. I use a printed list that I carry in my purse I start a new one each week. That way I always have it handy to add new things as I remember them or for when I run to the store on a whim.
On another note this might be a good idea for a household to do list... hunnie can never remember things and has sticky notes all over the house (which he loses often) I bought him a little pocket notebook but he never seems to keep that handy either!!
Vanessa, I agree on the to do list. This can be applied to every family's need. Thanks for stopping!
That is a handy idea. I like to keep a list on the fridge too for those moments when I realize that I am out of something.
Neat! I never realized glass could serve as a dry erase board. Clever, clever idea!
That is the neatest idea I've seen in a long time. I usually have several lists laying around the house--and they all have different things on them. Now I can keep better track of what I need. Thanks for sharing.
